My main area of interests is pediatric psychosomatic medicine and neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism and ADHD. As an assistant director of Consultation and Liaison services at Penn State, I have collaborated with pediatric medical and surgical teams to provide support and manage mental health issues in children. I also perform mental health assessment and provide intervention services for children hospitalized at the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

My research focuses on the assessment and management of chronic nonepisodic irritability and Disruptive Behavioral Disorders (DBD). The efficacy of evening Dose of Immediate Release Methylphenidate on Sleep in Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is being examined in a pilot clinical trial. I am particularly interested in understanding if the manifestation of chronic nonepisodic irritability should alter the treatment algorithm for youth with Disruptive Behavioral Disorders (DBD) or if existing evidence-based treatments for DBDs are equally effective in those children with persistent irritability. I plan to extend my research by conducting randomized controlled trial of CNS stimulants in children with ADHD and systematically defined irritability that includes laboratory-based assessments of frustration tolerance and emotion processing.
