Dr. Sciamanna is a general internist with a Masters in Public Health degree. He has spent the past 20 years developing and testing the impact of interventions, both online and face-to-face, for smoking, physical inactivity, stress reduction and obesity. He has published over 75 peer-reviewed papers, has been the PI of 4 NIH R01 intervention trials. He is now the PI of a PCORI Large Pragmatic Trial to test the impact of Band Together (www.BTPennState.org), including strength, aerobic and balance training - on recurrent fragility fractures among seniors. He is the Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine, overseeing 50 inpatient and outpatient providers as well as 10 faculty members with current external research grant funding. He has his own panel of primary care patients, who are the inspiration for the type of programs he develops as well as how he crafts the user experience to be something patients look forward to..
