Background
PREFERRED TITLE/ROLE:

Assistant Professor of Pharmacology

SECONDARY APPOINTMENT(S)/ INSTITUTE(S)/ CENTER(S):

Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute

EDUCATION:

M.S., Warsaw Medical Academy,1978
Ph.D., Warsaw Medical Academy,1982

NARRATIVE:

The ongoing projects in our laboratory are closely related to research on several aspects of chemical carcinogenesis as well as chemoprevention and drug discovery. We are involved in structure elucidation and syntheses in the areas of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), nitro-PAHs, nitrosoamines and their metabolites. Among our interests are also structurally modified/ adducted oligonucleotides and nucleoside analogues of potential anticancer activity. Other projects include structure-based design approaches to the optimization of leads/small molecules for drug-like properties introduction.
